daimler recalls over 1 million vehicles worldwide for air bag fix
Daimler is recalling more than 1 million Mercedes-
German automakers said Monday that Mercedes-Benz and sport-utility vehicles will address potential airbag deployments worldwide.
Officials said the safety recall covered 495,000 cars in the United States, 400,000 in the United Kingdom, 76,000 in Canada and hundreds in Germany.
The German carmaker did not immediately have the full total number of cars worldwide.
The company said that electrostatic discharge, coupled with a broken clock spring and insufficient grounding of steering components, could lead to an unexpected deployment of the driver-side front airbag in the recalled vehicle.

No deaths have been reported, and the problem has nothing to do with the massive worldwide recall of Takada airbag inflators.
